When I updated backupwordpress to version 3.0.4, it will not reactivate. I always get "access denied" whenever I try to activate this plugin. Did not have this problem with updating other plugins. Another site where I use backupwordpress and updated to version 3.0.4 did not have this problem. Deleted and reinstalled backupwordpress and still get "access denied" when activating.

nix255 on "backupwordpress is deleting wp-admin htaccess file"

Hi,

I am using the bulletproof security plugin. This creates htaccess files for the root folders and wp-admin folders. As soon as I run a backup with the backupwordpress plugin I immediately get the alert at the top of the screen saying there is no .htaccess file in the wp-admin folder. When I check via ftp, the .htaccess has mysteriously disappeared.

I have posted on the bulletproof support forum, and the developer agrees that your backupwordpress is deleting the htaccess file. Can you please have a look at this problem as it means every time a scheduled backup runs, the wp-admin folder becomes unprotected as the htaccess file is deleted. Why would this plugin do that, and can it be fixed.

Please see this thread in the bulletproof forum as the developer also reports a problem with BackUpWordPress creating a massive php error/dump. Which also needs fixing.

Thanks

I've disabled the plugin folder via ftp to get the site backup.

This is what was displayed as the only thing on my site until I disabled the plugin

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /homepages/21/d321160186/htdocs/wsb5797864802/wp6/wp-content/plugins/backupwordpress/backupwordpress.php on line 34

I downloaded the plugin again and checked the backupwordpress.php files and they were identical.

Any ideas?

Why would I get this email sent from within wordpress... I don't have Wordfence nor BackUpWordPress installed.. the two URLs below seem to pin to Wordfence sites. I'm a tad mystified. It's not inside Jetpack is it?

One of my sites was displaying gibberish, so after mucking about trying to figure out what was wrong, I went to grab a backup and restore.

I run two backup routines, one that backs up the database every day and holds 7 days worth of backups, and another that does a complete backup (database and files) once a week that keeps four weeks of backups.

I discovered that only two of my supposed 'full' backups had been successful - three weeks ago and four weeks ago. Neither backup contained the database file as I had anticipated. I do not have a database backup old enough to match completely with the most recent full backup.

Is it possible to recover from this situation? Why didn't my 'full' backup include the databases file as I anticipated?

Thank you,

Jim.

I have many websites. When I update to the latest version BackUpWordPress, it logs me out of the admin section. When I try to log back in, I just get a white page with no error message or warning. When I try to reload the page to http://www.mydomain.com/wp-admin, I still only see a white page. The only way to fix this is to go in via FTP and delete the BackUpWordPress plugin.

After installing Bulletproof anti-spam plugin, I found the WP site itself wasn't bulletproof.

Before installing Bulletproof I ran a full backup using #BackUpWordPress and kept the backup offsite.

After running Bulletproof processes I lost access to all WP files, and so was unable to deactivate/uninstall Bulletproof, I tired deleting the new .htaccess files Bulletproof created. No luck still (only white screen with any URL) so I decided to delete all of the WP files and restore from the backup.

After all backed-up files were restored, I had the basic site including static index page content, but no links and other plugin content missing. I deleted the database entirely and repopulated the tables from the backup using PHPMyAdmin.

Looking at the database content, all appears present and correct, including page slugs. I've also checked the database credentials in the wp-config.php file which are correct.

Now however no content can be seen. It's a hell of a job manually recreating the site so I'm hoping someone can help me here.

The URL is http://empirebay.net although there's nothing to see there.

I am testing the new Jetpack module that autoupdates plugins. With all the security fixes out these days, it seems like autoupdate makes sense.

It looks like Backupwordpress does not use or allow the autoupdate by Jetpack?

Is this true, can I change something to allow Backupwordpress to autoupate?

Greetings,
It seems as though the backup size is not accurately displayed.
It displays total size INCLUDING all excluded files.

I can't seem to get the value to update to reflect ACTUAL backup size.

Ex: for "Complete Weekly" it is showing 51GB
After my excludes and running the backup, the actual backup is 33MB.
It would be nice if this showed correctly on the Complete Weekly page.
(I actually expected this to auto update as I was setting up my excludes, but it did not.)

i am using V 3.2.5 as well as the google drive extention.
i am now getting the warning message :

BackUpWordPress detected issues with your last backup

zip warning: Permission denied

...and the process is hung on "cleaning up old backups".
i have checked the server backup directory and the current backup (zip) file is there, however if i cancel the operation, it is removed.
also, the backup file is not appearing in my google drive backup folder.

(edit) i have also sent a message through the dashboard support channel about this
thanks
