mrflynn on "Problems with automated #backupwordpress"

Hi, Hope someone can help - I'm having using automated #backupwordpress.

The issue is described as:
wp-cron.php is returning a Failure when receiving data from the peer

However manual back ups do run and are successful.

Helps material suggest inserting:
define( 'ALTERNATE_WP_CRON', true )
within wp-cron.php
But I don't know where to place it to see if that works?

I'm afraid I'm not a coder so can anyone assist with this issue please?

Thanks in advance

I have paid for the DropBox plugin and after installing it tried several time to set the dropbox settings but each time I press Authenticate it sends to a Fatal Error.

jamiesop on "Scheduled backups not running – no error messages"

I installed BUWP on my site last week and the process works very well when I run it manually. However, the scheduled backups don’t run although there are no error messages to indicate why.

Initially there was a wp-cron error message on my dashboard so I followed the FAQ article and added the suggested definition. The scheduled runs still don’t work although the warning message has now disappeared from the dashboard. I’ve revisited the site on different computers and networks to see whether that triggers the backups but without success.

It’s a small public site which doesn’t have any scheduled posts and isn’t hosted on Heart Internet either. There’s no problem with running manual backups but if possible I’d like to be able to use the automated approach. Does anyone have further suggestions?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi all: I just downloaded the plugin, and am getting this error when I try to activate it. Obviously, I can't deactive aWeber as this is what I use to build my list. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

I have installed and activated BackUpWordPress but it is defaulting to only backing up the database - when I change it to 'database & files' and click [update] it just goes back to 'database only'. The site is hosted in a sub-account in a shared hosted reseller space (NOT my choice!!) - does the plugin not have the permissions it needs or something?

Plugin will not recognise our second email address as genuine to receive notification sof BackUps.

We receive a red error message above the field advising our two email addresses separated by a comma are not genuine, if we add just one it stores it successfully?

Hi,
I have never had this problem with this plugin before, but I tried to perform a backup of the database and soon after, the backup failed. I am now unable to access my site or /wp-admin at all because of a '500 Internal Server Error.' I run a couple of other sites off of DreamHost and they are up and running. No other changes have been made, so I know that the error is as a result of this update. I can access the sites FTP and here are the things I did, in order (none of them worked)
1. Renamed the backupwordpress folder
2. Then, when that didn't work, deleted the backupwordpress folder completely
3. Then, renamed the whole plugins folder to plugins.deactivate
-Still have an error. I'm thinking it might be the memory or something? How do I find this out? This plugin was the only one I was working with and the last thing I did when the site crashed.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Ali

Hi -

I'm just wondering how to alter the Time that backupwordpress runs?

Currently it seems to default to 11pm, which I'm guessing runs on Server time?

This doesn't work out well for me in my area, so how do I change that time?

I'm happy to go in via phpMyAdmin & alter the value in the table if you can tell me which one?

(currently it hasnt run since January, and I'm wondering if this could be the issue.)

Many Thanks,
Darren.

I have used BackupWordpress on my hosted WP sites and it's the BEST by far, however I am having problems trying to get it to run on a site that is hosted on an IBM iSeries running Zend Server (should be like Apache on AIX).

When I click on the Settings/Backups link I get the following in the Apache error log (but no date/time etc):

sh: whoami: not found
sh: whoami: not found
sh: whoami: not found
sh: groups: not found
sh: groups: not found
sh: groups: not found
sh: whoami: not found
sh: groups: not found

If I update the backup Settings I get:

sh: whoami: not found
sh: whoami: not found
sh: whoami: not found
sh: groups: not found

I also get a file ".backup_warnings" created in the backups folder, it's content is:

{"php":{"7a8a67a97cf19a56925a5cf738eef4a7":"Undefined offset: 0, \/www\/zendsvr\/htdocs\/news\/wp-includes\/capabilities.php, 1106"}}

The scheduled backups are not firing (to my knowledge). I see no logs or errors.

If I manually run the backup I get a modal with the following:

Your backup completed but with the following errors / warnings, it's probably ok to ignore these.
Here's the response from the server:
sh: mysqldump: not found
sh: zip: not found

It does create a valid backup, but will not email it to me (it's only 300kb so not too large), and .backup_warnings is updated to show:

{"mysqldump":{"7aae56d420a6b753d1d92c508d49f2ee":"sh: mysqldump: not found\n"}}

I'm not sure if this is because of a fault in our setup or if we can't use BackupWordpress on an iSeries. Hopefully these errors make some kind of sense. I am willing to try and suggestions to help fix this.

I found that the folder with backup files is actually publicly accessible from the Internet. You just need to know a URL to access it.
WP is installed on Windows platform.
Why is it not protected by default and there is no warning about it? What is the recommended way to protect the folder?
There is .htaccess file in the folder, but it does not work in IIS

Hi,

Upon trying to change settings or create a backup I get the following message:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 122880 bytes) in /home/tingenor/public_html/tngn/wp-admin/includes/schema.php on line 963

I don't believe that this is so?

Please let me know if I am being blonde or whether there is something I can do about this.

With thanks :)

I don't have a cpanel, as I have a heart internet server on a shared platform, Not a private server like vps/hybrid/dedicated.
But I did input /usr/bin/php5 /home/sites/theactivehealthclinic.com/public_html/wp-cron.php into schedule tasks page found in web tools at the command line to run every 5 minutes. (on my extend panel found at this https://hosting.heartinternet.co.uk/cron.cgi So i figured it was doing the same as the cpanel)

I also checked the file permissions of wp-cron and it was 644.

I did this before installing your plugin. I can do manual backups! Something i couldnt do with updraft, backupbuddy etc. I am most happy with this. However, before I purchase the dropbox permium version, i wished to make scheduled tasks work. This has not been successful. I am stumped. If I gave you my admin login for heartinternet.co.uk do you think you could help. I would of course purchase premium before or after if you are confident of it working.

Alternatively could you suggest a different server host and I will switch. The back up of my site it more important.

Many thanks,
Robin.
